The Expositor's Bible Study is an in-depth, verse-by-verse analysis and exposition of the Scripture, conducted by Russell L. Harris. The study is one of the few scholarly verse-by-verse commentaries written from the perspective of a correct understanding of the historical origin of the so-called "Gentiles"--an understanding which is absolutely vital to a proper perception of the prophecies of Scripture, the teaching of Jesus and the apostles, and of the New Covenant itself. Moreover, the study recognizes the fact that many passages of Scripture employ figurative language or language of accommodation, and that the traditional interpretation of a passage frequently is in error (sometimes, to the point of absurdity) because of failure or refusal on the part of the interpreter to discern the use of figurative language.
While written at a level which will appeal primarily to the pastor-teacher of a local assembly or to the leader of a home Bible study group, the study presupposes no academic background in theology, and thus is suitable for any Christian having genuine desire to understand the deeper things of the Word of God. The study makes frequent digressions to discuss ancillary subjects, in order to ensure that the reader has an adequate understanding of supporting principles, historical events, and other matters which are pertinent to the passage under consideration.
The study is on-going and incomplete, with additional lessons being published from time to time.
