6 Audio Bible Studies

The collection Audio Bible Studies by Russell L. Harris is comprised of Bible studies which have been designed for audio presentation, and which are posted here on the web site as downloadable audio files in the popular MP3 format.

One unusual feature of these Bible studies is that they are made available without charge, in compliance with the numerous Scriptural prohibitions concerning making merchandise of the teaching of the Word of God.

Another unusual feature of these studies is the provision, for each lesson, of a downloadable lesson outline in PDF format. The lesson outline is the script from which the lesson was recorded, and contains all of the Scripture references. In addition, each lesson outline typically contains a number of footnotes which explain and sometimes delve into matters which are incident to the study. It is suggested that the lesson outline be downloaded, printed out, and used for reference and for taking notes while listening to the lesson. The outlines are of particular value to those who listen to the studies while in the course of driving, jogging, or other activity which makes it difficult or impossible to jot down notes; no longer is it necessary to search through an audio file in order to check a point which needs clarification or to find a particular citation of the Scripture.

An MP3 file is nothing more than a computer file which has audio content; typically ranging in length from a few minutes to an hour or more. An MP3 file may be downloaded, stored, copied, burned to CD, transferred, or deleted, in the same manner as any other computer file is handled.

After an MP3 file has been downloaded, it may be listened to in a variety of ways.

MP3 files and the MP3 player rapidly are supplanting the Philips audio cassette and the cassette player. At the present time, MP3 players range in price from about fifty dollars to about four hundred dollars, the difference in price being primarily a matter of storage capacity. Typical MP3 players range in size from about the size of a cigarette lighter to about the size of a large hand calculator. MP3 players are battery-powered and utilize earphones; many are rugged enough to use while jogging. One popular MP3 player operates for a dozen or more hours on a single AAA flashlight cell and can hold ten to twenty hours of audio material. The more expensive players operate on rechargeable batteries and have sufficient capacity to store thousands of hours of music or the spoken word.
